Hello Community,
As we have all been adjusting to our new remote work world, access to reports and information has never been more critical. Many of us within the community rely on the Grids, Charts, Finished Reports and Visualizations that VDM delivers to keep our businesses moving forward. It is quite easy to end up with hundreds of pieces of information that we need to review every day or week. Currently, you are probably:
1. Manually running, reviewing, and exporting your reports.
2. Searching for and pulling your reports off a network share from a scheduled nightly job.
3. Scouring hundreds of daily emails for the “right” attachment.
4. Picking up a stack of reports off your office printer.
5. Calling a colleague and asking them to email you “that” report.
What do all these methods have in common? They take time, and lots of it. Manually running a report takes time for the query to execute. Navigating a dozen folders deep on a network share or searching hundreds of daily emails for your output, is not fun or efficient. Calling, Zooming or chatting through Teams to ask your colleague to forward a report is inefficient for both you and them.
Making sure everyone is on the same page and looking at the same information is critical to collaboration. Enter VDM Insights. Your one stop shop for all your Grids, Charts, Finished Reports and Visualizations.
Insights has two components, the Scheduled Insights “Snapshot” and the Insights Explorer.
Scheduled Insights
With v10 you will see a new option called Export for Insights. Simply enabling this option will tell VDM to take a snapshot of your Scheduled Job’s data each time the Job is executed.

Insights Explorer
Insights Explorer is 100% customizable and enables you to add, group and organize pages, explore, export, and print your Scheduled Insight Snapshots quickly and easily. Insights is not just a collection of PDFs and Excel Spreadsheets. Insights provides access to the native Detail, Summary and Pivot Grids, as well as Charts, Visualizations and Finished Reports controls.
To add a new Insight, you will click the Add Page button and select the VDM control from the Ribbon Bar.

Next, choose the desired Insight from your Executions. That's it!

Insights Explorer also allows you to easily flip between any Insight Snapshot to see your information from yesterday, last week or last year.

In summary, Insights is a Data Warehouse for all your important Grids, Charts, Finished Reports and Visualizations.
We value the community's input on all our development, and your feedback is always appreciated.
